This state park is located along the Grand Strand coastline at 4401 South Kings Highway. Here, the park sits perfectly among the oceanfront maritime forest. Best of all, the park is family friendly! The park offers educational opportunities, a nature trail, stunning beach ocean views and excellent surf fishing.

State Park Admission Information

The admission price is currently $5 adults and $3 for children ages 6-15. Children ages 5 and younger are free. There is also a discounted price of $3.25 for South Carolina seniors (age 65 & older). The hours are daily 6am-10pm, March-November and daily 6am-8pm, December through February.

When paying our admission, during our weekday visit, we had a short wait before entering the state park. If you are planning a weekend visit, you will encounter long lines when entering the park. You will experience the heaviest traffic times between 11am-4pm both Saturdays and Sundays. Plan accordingly!

Things To Do

Myrtle Beach State Park has many things for you and your family to enjoy!! You may want to take a walk into the last strands of the South Carolina northern coast maritime forest. Perhaps you are into biking? Here, you can bike on the nature trail and throughout the park. Please note, there are summer restrictions for riding bikes on the beach. The Campground Playground

This park also has two playgrounds for both visitor and family friendly fun. One is located in the main picnic area and the other is located in the campground. You may also want to enjoy some tire swinging behind Shelter #1.

The Wonderful Natural And Educational Activity Center Walkway

Do not miss out on the park’s Nature Center Activity Center! You will enjoy a short leisurely walk while discovering beautifully labeled plants and informative signage along the walkway to the center. A great way to learn about the South Carolina nature.

Once you reach the Educational Nature Center Activity Center, you will be able to enjoy an assortment of beautiful South Carolina birds eating on the beautifully placed outdoor bird feeders. A great place to take some beautiful bird photography!

Picnic Areas And Picnic Shelters

Beautiful Shaded Picnic Areas Near The Playground Area

You may want to enjoy a memorable Myrtle Beach State Park picnic. First, you will find many picnic tables in shaded areas around the park. The park also offers seven picnic shelters for your family or other group outings. A park shelter may be reserved for $75-$200/day. If the shelters are not reserved, you may use them at no charge on a first-come, first served basis.

Plan A Comfortable Stay At Myrtle Beach State Park

The Myrtle Beach State Park Campground offers some great camping!! You can enjoy one of the park’s 302 large covered Pine sites in the main campground. Also, you will want to make a reservation during the summer and holiday weekends or there is a good chance you will be turned away. The campground requires a two night minimum stay.

Maybe you are planning a South Carolina vacation or holiday? You may want to stay in one of the 6 comfortable Myrtle Beach State Park cabins or 2 apartments. Depending on the cabin, you can sleep 6-10 people.

The units are air conditioned, heated, fully furnished and have a television. Free internet is also readily available. Your bath linens, bed linens, basic cooking and eating utensils are included as well. No pets are allowed in the units.
