Gateway To The Americas
Florida is seen as the ‘gateway to the Americas’. It’s said to hold this title because so many people from around the world, choose to land in Miami before any other city in the U.S.
As the world becomes more accustomed to the amazing sunshine of Miami, they know the beaches like the back of their hand even before they have stepped foot on them. Thanks to YouTube and social media, you might be wondering what else is there? Lots of things as a matter of fact.
Miami was once the home of the 80s Rush, that was filled with fast cars, fast women and fast fashion. This magic is still here, you just have to know where to look.
Upper Buena Vista
America is known for having shopping malls, everywhere! But this one is not like any of the others. This is a tropical take, with lots of luscious vegetation, vines, plenty of reclaimed exotic wood and it’s called Upper Buena Vista.
In addition, there are lots of cafes, restaurants and little stalls to find things you might like. It’s a very new addition to Miami and it looks like something out of a treasure island. There’s a lot of space, outdoor seating, alfresco dining and classic tropical huts to find some shade in.
Also, the little knight lanterns made out of wood and or wicker are a great addition as they allow for some late evening shopping to be done, in a beautiful laid back environment.
Finding Fashion
Miami is one of the hottest places to be if you love fashion. Go to a place called House of Findings, here you will be met with the old and the new. It has modern exotic outfits for the discerning fashionista on her way to the beach, as well as some classic Victorian beach fashion.
Yes, the Victorians did like to mess around in the sand and sea. It’s very classic and chic, bright, complex patterns, and yet, very subtle and not as revealing as other styles.
In addition, you can find some loose cardigans here as well as some outlandish wicker hats to block out the sun. Speak with the owner if you need assistance in finding your fashion style, she’s very open and friendly!
Jazz & Food
Miami wouldn’t be what it is, without the Cuban jazz scene and the amazing food, that so many different cultures have brought here. One of the best places to eat in the city is Neme Gastro Bar.
This rainbow cocktail bar will make you any kind of sweet, sour or just-right cocktail you want. Try the lightly salted fish with kiwi, avocado and strawberries! They also have large chunks of monkfish and plates of fresh oysters, which are caught fresh in the morning.
Miami still has that amazing rush, that made it so popular in the 80s. It’s fast, welcoming and has vibrancy like you have never seen. The city is known for its unique fashion, fresh seafood and lavish shopping malls, so why not give it a gander?
