2020 Key West Travel

Are you looking for information on 2020 Key West Travel? Great, you have come to the right place. Nancy and I just have recently returned from some amazing Key West travel and we are now ready to share our experience with you.

Is It Safe To Go To Key West

I know what you’re thinking, how was the travel with Covid-19. We are happy to tell you, we had no issues and yes, there were other travelers enjoying Key West as well. If you use common sense, hand sanitizers, and masks when mandated, odds are you will be fine. However, you should always do what you feel is best for you and your family.

Ok, let’s get into Key West travel, shall we? “Key West, a U.S. island city, is part of Florida Keys archipelago. It’s also Florida’s southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch style houses. It’s a cruise-ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. It’s known more for its coral reefs – destinations for diving and snorkeling – than for its beaches.” ~Google.

What Is The Best Time For Your Key West Vacation

Nancy and I traveled to Key West in November 2020. The weather was beautiful, with temperatures in the lower 80’s. However, the summer months are usually rainy and humid. The Hurricane Season generally falls between June 1st and November 30th.

Your best time to visit is during the Spring months between March and May. During this time, you will find the winter crowds or snowbirds will leave. Also, you will find the hotel rates more affordable. The weather is usually quite nice as well.

You can expect to spend approximately $170 per day on your Key West getaway. On an average, a cost of $38 on meals daily and $41 for local transportation daily. If you use your own transportation, you should plan on spending approximately $4 per hour for parking.

How Many Days Should You Spend In Keywest

Nancy and I spent 5 days in Key West. We recommend anywhere around 5 days will be ample time for you to explore Key West. Here, you will find many different wonderful things to do, including Sunset/Snorkeling Tours, Sunset Tours with live music entertainment, and capturing a beautiful sunset at Mallory Square to name a few.

For instance, Nancy and I explored famous Duval Street. Did you know Duval Street starts at the Gulf of Mexico and stretches to the Atlantic Ocean? Here, there are many bars, restaurants and stores to peak your interest.

Have you ever heard of the Duval Crawl? There are 43 bars, from one end of the street to the other, that must be stopped at to complete the Duval Crawl. Good Luck.

Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

Are you looking for some beautiful Key West scenic views? May I suggest a stop at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, Florida’s Southernmost State Park. Here, you can explore a Civil War fortress and actually learn more about its history inside the fort.

Are you looking for a relaxing time at this state park? You can enjoy the nature view while laying in your shady hammock. Maybe a day of fishing is a great way for you to relax. Finish your day by catching an amazing sunset view.

Key West Beaches

Nancy and I visited 2 beaches during our Key West adventure, Smathers Beach and South Beach. Smathers Beach is known for being the largest and best public beach in area. Here, you will find a great white sand shoreline with a water sport view.

How many of you have relaxed under a shaded palm tree? Yes, you can also do that at Smathers Beach. While relaxing, you can enjoy viewing helicopter tours flying closely over the beach, kite surfers, kayakers and jet skis riding across the Gulf of Mexico.

Do you have a love for nature? Here, you can view birds and pelicans fishing the waters for an afternoon snack. You may just want to bring your camera as well for some great closeup pelican views.

South Beach is another beach option. You will find this small beach at the end of Duval Street. This southernmost beach had a coffee shop and restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

Here, you will also find an oversized beach chair for souvenir photos. You will also find the famous and picturesque Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S. Buoy just a short walk away.

What Is The Water Temperature At Key West

If you’re anything like Nancy, you like your ocean temperature to be like bath water. Here, you will find the warmest water temperatures in July and August, at approximately 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Your coolest water temperatures are in January, at approximately 69 degrees Fahrenheit.

In closing, now you can see, Key West Travel should be on your bucket list. This beautiful destination is a great location for adults and children. Nancy and I are absolutely thrilled that we experienced our 2020 Key West Travel. Take it from us, you will have a great time!

  2. Thanks for your write-up. Another issue is that being a photographer includes not only problems in taking award-winning photographs but additionally hardships in acquiring the best camera suited to your requirements and most especially struggles in maintaining the quality of your camera. That is very true and clear for those professional photographers that are straight into capturing this nature’s interesting scenes — the mountains, the forests, the wild or perhaps the seas. Visiting these daring places surely requires a digicam that can meet the wild’s hard environments.
