Here, you will learn how to visit Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon. Nancy and I recently had an opportunity to visit Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon. You may recognize this beautiful travel destination as the Quechee Gorge. The Quechee Gorge runs a little over a mile long and 165 feet deep. This gorge hosts over 200,000 visitors yearly.
Beautiful Quechee Gorge Views
Many travelers observe the gorge from the Route 4 bridge. The bridge offers picturesque views 168 feet above the Ottaquechee River. Nearby, you can walk to the Quechee Gorge Village, 25,000 Gifts and the Quechee State Park.
The Quechee Gorge Village offers you an opportunity to visit unique shops and book a Quechee Segway Tour. A visit to 25,000 Gifts offers you a great shopping experience and restrooms. Here, you can also make the hike to the bottom of the gorge by following the trails at the Quechee Gorge State Park.
Great Quechee Gorge Hiking Trails
Beside the gift shop, you may also want to explore the walking trails. These walking trails give you different vantage points to enjoy the scenery. At the end of the trail, there is a unique waterfall for your enjoyment. Nancy and I enjoyed the hike and loved the waterfall view!
How was the Quechee Gorge created you may ask? The Quechee Gorge or Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon was created by the Ottauquechee River. The gorge is a relatively new phenomenon as compared to many of the world’s gorges. The Quechee Gorge dates back approximately 13 thousand years ago instead of millions.
