Visit Beautiful St. Maarten/Saint-Martin

Visit Beautiful St. Maarten/Saint-Martin

We have been to visit beautiful St. Maarten/Saint-Martin three times.  The first time was on our Honeymoon and we visited Orient Beach. The second time, we took a ferry ride to Anguilla, where we  swam with the dolphins.  This time we decided to rent a buggy and explore the island.

Shopping Square And Water Taxi

When you disembark on St Marteen, there is a nice shopping square.  We looked around there for a short time and noticed a booth for the water taxis.

We purchased round trip tickets and headed off to the water taxi pick up spot.  The water taxis dropped us off at another shopping square and that is where we spied our tour for the day.

A Private Tour With Our Buggy Rental

Jim saw the buggy and his eyes lit up!  He looked at me and said, “Do you want to go for a ride.”  I was a little apprehensive like always but it was a great experience.  We rented the buggy from http://sxmrallytours.com.

SXM Rally Tours gave us a map with great directions.  We explored both the Dutch and French sides of the Island.  I really wanted to do two things.  I wanted to show you all the planes coming in for a landing over Maho Beach and visit a different beach.  Maho Beach is too small and crowded for me to spend several hours.

James drove the buggy.  What made it easy was the island drives on the right side of the road, just like we do in the USA.  Having an open vehicle was also nice because it was gorgeous out and we didn’t have that closed in van feeling.  James and I could explore on our own.  We stopped when we wanted to and for as long as we wanted to.

Honey, Did You Bring The Passports

The Ship ports were on the Dutch Side of the island, so thats where we started.  We drove around the island counter clockwise, this was the suggestion of the tour operator.  Another concern of mine was going to the French side.  You need to cross a boarder into another country!  Was that going to prove difficult?  The answer to that is NO!  As you can see below it is really not intimidating at all.

Welcome to Saint-Martin

The views were stunning as we traveled along the French Side of Saint-Martin and the Dutch Side St. Maarten.  The two different names of the country, lol.

Beautiful Beaches

Along our travels, we pulled in to a local empty beach, which we had all to ourselves. What a wonderful treat!!  The water was warm and very relaxing.  After a short time at the beach, we decided to continue our travels.

James and I continued along and came upon Mullet Bay Beach, the beach had food and drinks available for sale, as well as chairs and umbrellas for rent.  We decided to stay at the beach for about an hour.  While at the beach, we chatted with others from different cruise ships in port, there were 5 ships in port.

It was now time for us to make our way back to port and return our buggy.  We certainly had a fabulous day with our visit in beautiful St. Maarten/Saint-Martin!  The island had so many great beaches and beautiful sights to offer. We highly recommend you visit beautiful St. Maarten/Saint-Martin!!
