Raging Waters At Glendale Falls

Did You Know?

Massachusetts Glendale Falls was once the site of a running mill shortly before the turn of the 19th Century. Here, the mill remains can be observed opposite the parking lot. The parking lot entrance is located at the top of the falls. As you travel down the falls, you may notice the old grist wheel that was once used for both grinding grain and corn laying on its side.

From the lower parking lot, you will see a well groomed trail leading to the bottom of the falls. Here, you will observe a beautiful swimming hole. You also can also find places to sit in the falls and let the water cascade over you but be warned it’s a little chilly.

After viewing the falls, you may want to explore around the area. Travel down East River Road, which is located along the Middle Branch of the Westfield River, where the Glendale Falls empties into. Here, you will find many old foundations and stone walls. During the 1800’s, there were several mills and large farms throughout that area. The remains which still exist to this day!
