Six Flags New England – Holiday in the Park

Six Flags New England – Holiday in the Park

Wow, wow, wow, is just the beginning of my experience at incredible Six Flags New England! James and I visited Six Flags in both December 2017 and November 2018, to experience their 1st and 2nd year offerings of Holiday In The Park.  In 2019, the park is open on weekends and select days November 23 – January 1 from 2 pm. to 8 pm.

This experience was quite a sight to see! The park had millions of lights that started lighting as soon as we arrived at 3pm.  The official lighting of the park was at 4pm and they had a special tree lighting at 5pm.

When we crossed the bridge to enter the park we could already see that things were different.  The bridge had lights with greenery above our head and on the sides.  It really made the park have a festive feel.

You will have to make your way to the ticket booth if you are not a season pass holder or have not printed your ticket ahead of time from the Six Flags website:  https://www.sixflags.com/newengland/special-events/holiday-in-the-park

The park places safety first by having everyone enter through a metal detector and bag search area.  If you don’t bring a bag,  you will enter the park much faster.

Upon entering the park at 3 pm, we observed many beautiful lights.  We could definitely feel the excitement of the holiday season in the air.  The Six Flags staff photographers were ready to greet us and take our picture, so you can have memory keepsakes to take home with you.

If you wanted to spend some time with Santa and have your picture taken with him, you need to sign up at the photography pick up booth, which is located at the beginning of Wonderland way.  This is important, you cannot sign up at Santa’s workshop and you will have to back track to the beginning of the park to sign up!  If you are bringing babies or little ones who wants to meet Santa, make sure you stop there first!!

Six Flags renamed the roads to the park for this special Holiday time.  The main road into the park is called Wonderland Way.  It is a very fitting title as it was lit up with a ceiling of overhead lights.  These lights started to dance with the music as the evening progresses.  The lights were absolutely beautiful as the day turned into night!!

The park offered some seasonal foods as well as plenty of shopping for this special time in the park.  Six Flags offered bread bowls filled with soup, stew, or chowder.  S’more kits could be purchased and roasted over the many open fire pits and warming stations, which they have set up to keep everyone warm throughout the park.

They also have a seasonal adult drink offering available for adult purchases, over 21 of course. I can attest that they are very yummy!! You can still find the regular offerings of food choices and drinks but the hot cocoa will help keep the chill out.  James enjoyed sipping on a delicious hot chocolate while he walked around the park.

There are also new characters to meet in the park, as well as the ones we know and love.  We saw Queen Lumenessa Evergreen and Tinsel in Wonderland way.  Chestnut and Cole were roaming in Jingle Bell Junction.  Princess Krystal and Jack Frost could be spotted in and around the Polar Playland.  As well as the Holiday Fairy, Sprinkle and Gumdrop were at Sugar Plum Place.

We definitely enjoyed our visit but will be returning to see some of the shows that we missed!  In 2017, I wanted to see Frost – A holiday cirque extravaganza.  I overheard some fellow guest talking about how great it was! In 2018, we were able to enjoy the wonderful Frost Holiday Cirque Extravaganza, the performers were both thrilling and entertaining. The park also has snow flurries every 30 minutes at Snowflake falls.

Our experience at the Six Flags Holiday In The Park were an amazing holiday experience for both young and old!!  We always have a great time at Six Flags and we especially love visiting the park during both holiday seasons!  Rumor has it, the elves have some new surprises for 2019!  We can hardly wait!!!

Happy Holidays!!!
