Ship Tendering Process

Amazing Cayman Ocean Adventures was a real blast! In Grand Cayman, you must tender from the ship to the pier. It’s not as daunting as it may sound. You disembark the ship as usual except when you step off the ship, it’s onto a smaller ferry to bring you to the shore. You don’t just walk out on land. The ferry to the pier is only about a 10-15 minute scenic trip.

It is actually fun to sea your ship out at sea for a great picture! We loved to getting a picture with us holding our ship in our hand.

As we made our way up the pier, we found our excursion leader with their sign. Once we were signed in, we needed to wait until all the guests had arrived. It doesn’t take to long, Grand Cayman is very efficient with this tendering process.

When all of the excursion guests arrived we walked to the busses. The buses held approximately 16 passengers each. Our bus driver’s name was Steve and he was very knowledgeable. Once we arrived at the dock we were met by our crew for the morning.

Amazing Cayman Ocean Adventures – Crew For The Day

As we walked down the pier to our boat for the day, the crew greeted us with smiles. I felt very welcomed as I boarded the vessel. It was a pretty quick load up and we were off. As the Captain briefed us on the trip, introduced his crew and gave a short safety briefing the other crew members were passing our snorkel gear and fins.

Wonderful Stingray City

Our first stop was Stingray City. It’s about a 15 minute boat ride off the North coast of Grand Cayman Island. As you get closer, you start to see lots of boats all parked in an oval shape around a sand bar in the middle of the ocean. When you get off the boat you will be in about 3-4 feet of water. So you can stand and watch the stingrays as they swim by you.

Our Captain scooped up a stingray and started to make introductions. He explained the different parts of the stingray and gave everyone who wanted to touch the stingray a turn. The Captain was extremely sensitive to what the guests needed. He didn’t rush anyone.

Therefore anyone who was nervous and shy about the stingrays were given enough time to get more comfortable before being approached. We definitely enjoyed holding our stingray, kissing him and getting a back massage. It was a lot of fun to see everyone having a great time! So many smiles!

Great Snorkeling at Captain Marwin’s Reef

Captain Marwin’s Reef is a stones throw from Stingray City. We were so close we could still see the boats as we stopped for our snorkel. Of course, we were far enough away that we were completely safe. This reef was absolutely beautiful. The water was super clear the day we snorkeled. I could have stayed and snorkeled all day. We had about 30-45 minutes of snorkel time

Great Starfish Point Beach

Our last stop was Starfish Point Beach. What a great little beach this is. It has a nice shallow beach area so smaller visitors and non-swimmers feel very comfortable. There were starfish when we visited and as a result it made viewing and holding the starfish easily accessible. It is a great place to just sit in the water and relax. What a neat little spot!

Ending to Our Wonderful Day with Cayman Ocean Adventures

We had about a 20 minute return boat ride back to the busses. During this time, we were able to view and purchase some pictures that Photographer Keylin Kelly took of James and I. About 1-2 days later, we received an email with our pictures attached. Thank you Keylin we love them!

The Cayman Ocean Adventures tour was about 5 hours long. Plenty of time to see everything and not feel rushed. We so enjoyed the crew, they were great! As well as our new friends that we met on board.
