This Fall, Nancy and I had the opportunity to visit the amazing state of Colorado. One of our many stops, during our adventure, was an absolutely beautiful sunrise trip to the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater!!
With its wonderful views of Denver, Colorado, the Rocky Mountains, miles of hiking trails and brick-hued sandstone cliffs, Red Rocks Park is a huge draw for outdoors travelers and enthusiasts alike!
Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater
The Red Rocks Park occupies approximately 700 acres. Here, this most impressive park offers visitors the opportunity to experience the fascinating geographic transition between the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains.
Nancy and I had an opportunity to explore the beautiful scenery and trails of the Red Rocks Park. The views were simply breathtaking! The Red Rocks were truly majestic and amazing!!
Amphitheater Live Concerts
Another big local and traveler draw is the expansive amphitheater. Here, they have hosted such headliners as the Beatles, Tom Petty and John Denver. You’ll soon find (and hear) that the theater, geologically formed by the red rocks, boasts amazing acoustics and a most enjoyable atmosphere.
The amphitheater is embedded in the majestic Red Rocks. Nancy and I didn’t have time to fit a concert into our schedule this trip. We discovered the theater is worth a stop for the photos alone! The park’s visitor center also features displays dedicated to past performers.
Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater Information
The Red Rocks Park and amphitheater is located about 16 miles west of downtown Denver. The Park offers restrooms for your convenience. We also observed a casual restaurant on-site.
The park is open every day from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Admission is free. Here, there is also no admission to explore the visitor center. The Visitor Center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April through October and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from November through March.
Whether it is a visit to the beautiful Red Rocks Park or to take in a concert at the majestic amphitheater, a visit to the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list.
