Las Vegas – Super Tips

Las Vegas – Super Tips

Las Vegas – Super Tips? There are all kinds of tips when it comes to travel.  Every place you go there are different ways to save time or money.  Right??  We just returned from Las Vegas, Nevada and I have put together a few savings/travel tips that can help you with your Las Vegas trip.

Making Great Las Vegas Memories

We definitely want to cautiously pick and choose how we spend our money! If  you are traveling to Las Vegas and you want lavish meals, you should be able to have them.  If you want to spend money in the casino then you should be able to have that option.  We just like to cut the fat on other things so we can do more of what is important to us.  For us going to a Vegas show is fun, Carrot Top was hilarious!!

Taking that once in a lifetime helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon is important to us!  On this helicopter tour, the helicopter set down in the Grand Canyon and we had a champagne lunch with some time for photos, like this one with our pilot.

Cost Savings Tips

So we will make our transportation costs as low as possible.  We will skip the lavish meals.  We check for Groupon and other savings before we go.

Taxis, Lyft, Uber or the Deuce Bus? Many people like to use Taxis.  Taxis are the old stand by.  Now with Uber and Lyft there are other ways to get around.  When you hire a Lyft or Uber, they give you a flat rate for going from point A to point B.  Taxis charge by the minute and in Las Vegas there is a lot of traffic lights that can really slow you down!

During our time in Las Vegas, we tried the Deuce Bus System.  A bus that travels between the Las Vegas strip and downtown.  The Deuce Bus System is run by RTC transit.  You can easily download the app on your phone to check bus schedules and arrival times.  For this app follow the link:  Las Vegas Total Transit App

Las Vegas Transportation Tips

Tickets for the Deuce bus can be purchased for $6/2 hr pass, $8/24 hr, and $20 for a 72 hr pass.  A wonderful Las Vegas transportation option.  There are kiosks at most of the stops to buy your tickets.  If there are none at your first stop you can buy it on the bus.  You will need exact change though.

The bus may take a little longer to get where you want to go, so just plan accordingly.  We did use and enjoy the bus transportation a few times.  There are also a few Trams.  (1) there is a Tram between the Mandalay Bay Hotel, The Luxor Hotel and The Excalibur Hotel.  (2)  A Tram from the Bellagio Hotel to City Center to Monte Carlo.  (3) Lastly a tram between The Mirage Hotel and Treasure Island Hotel.

Don’t forget about the Monorail System that connects seven different stops from the south strip starting at the MGM Hotel and going north stopping at Bally’s & Paris, Flamingo & Caesars Palace, Harrah’s & The LINQ, Las Vegas Convention Center, Westgate, and SLS! The Monorail System also has a small fee just like the bus system.

Plan Ahead For More Cost Savings

We used Groupon for tickets to the Stratosphere Hotel Observation Deck and thrill rides.  If you buy the tickets in the hotel you will pay $25,  just to take the elevator to the observation deck.  Single ride tickets are $15 and tower and two ride combo are $30/pp.

We went on Groupon and purchased our tickets and paid $20/pp for the observation deck and two rides, a savings of $10/pp.  The Stratosphere  was definitely a priority for me (Nancy)! The night view from the top of the Stratosphere is breathtaking and a must see!!

We also had a hotel room with a fully appointed kitchen, so we were able to pick up a few items at the store and keep our food expenses down.  While we were shopping at the store, we also picked up a few bottles of wine to start and finish off our night so there wasn’t the need to make expensive purchases out at a club or bar.

I know most people do not want to be cooking on vacation if that is you there are lots of buffets at the hotels, some costly some not as much.  There is also hotel happy hour for less expensive drinks and appetizers.  My point is that you have choices to save money!

Prepare For A Wonderful Stay

Do your research when planning to find the best hotel for your needs.  Know what you want to spend your time and money on.  Always think outside the box for ways that you can save and remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!!!  We hope you enjoyed the Las Vegas – Super Tips!

You can start selling anything you don’t want or that you can get for free.
