We visited Sholan Farms in recently and what a treat! Sholan Farms is located at 1125 Pleasant St. in Leominster, MA. Come to find out Sholan Farms is a farm that is owned by the City of Leominster but run by the Friends of Sholan Farms.
This is a community supported non-profit organization. So they rely solely on their sponsors, members and volunteers. Yes, you can help!
Where Is The Beautiful Sholan Farms?
The location of Sholan Farms is beautiful. The farm is located on a hilltop with panoramic views. Here, you can see the surrounding county side and on a clear day, you may even see Boston, Massachusetts. You will love the view!
Sholan Farms has a variety of volunteers from planting, mowing, cashiers, mulcher, raspberry and blueberry picker, apple picker and the list goes on. When it comes to a farm many hands make light work, so you know they never turn a volunteer away. When you have volunteered 10 hours, you receive half off on apples.
Donations Accepted
What if you cannot volunteer but still want to be a part? You can become a member for a small donation and your donation is used to help the farm. Your membership entitles you to discounts. In February and March, it is apple tree pruning time. If you are interested in learning about the art of pruning, this is for you. Check out their website @ http://www.sholanfarms.com .

Wonderful Sholan Farms Activites Year Round
Mid May is the Apple Blossom Festival. The Festival is an event the whole family can enjoy with children’s activities, crafters, pony rides, music and food trucks. You do not want to miss it!
The astounding success of the Sholan Farms Apple Blossom Festival is a direct product of the committed energy of many members of our community. Without their dedication, support and participation, producing this event would not be possible.
Since 2002, the Apple Blossom Festival has grown and become a community event almost synonymous with spring to both local residents and visitors alike. (sholanfarms.com)
July and August are pick your own raspberries and blueberries season. You will love snacking on these farm fresh fruits.
The end of August starts the apple picking season which is daily from 10am-5pm. There is also free wagon rides, hiking and just a great time by all. The store shelves will be stocked with fresh picked apples, peaches, homemade jelly, honey from our own hives, cider and when in season; gourds, mums, squash, pumpkins and more.
The bakers will be busy again making apple deserts and other treats. Our concession stand will be open on weekends serving, apple crisp, cider, coffee, cookies and other special delights. (sholanfarms.com)
The Johnny Appleseed Homecrafters Weekend
The Johnny Appleseed Homecrafters Weekend is Sept 16 – Sept 17, 2018, 10am-4pm. Come to the annual Art and Craft Festival at Sholan Farms. Due to the popularity of this event it is now being extended for two days. You will love it!
Find handcrafted creations made by expert Artists and Artisans, and meet the actual makers of the work. Enjoy apple picking, great assortment of food trucks, free wagon rides, enjoy live music and other entertainment. (solanfarms.com)
Mid September is the Cream of the Crop Weekend! This year it is Sept 23 – Sept 24, 2018. This is when the Macoun Apples are expected to be ready to pick.
The Macoun was developed in 1932 and is named after a famous Canadian fruit breeder. It is known around the farm as the no-fat dessert. Sure to satisfy most sweet tooths. But hurry they are only around in the fall and you do not want to miss out.
Harvest Festival Weekend, October 7– Oct 9, 2018
There will be free live entertainment, free wagon rides, and food trucks. There will also be numerous free, interactive children’s activities to enjoy and so much more. What a fun family event for you and your family!
The Christmas Tree Shop at Sholan Farms begins November 25th
Tours, Outings, Family Celebrations, and Hayrides are also available during their seasonal operations. It is on a first-come first-serve basis. A small pp/fee is charged. For reservations, please call (978)840-FARM.
Looking For Outdoor Activities?
The farm also has walking/hiking trails, cross-country skiing, bird watching and picnic areas. They also have Twilight Hikes weather permitting. It is a great way to spend sometime with your family or friends. Here, you can enjoy the view, relax, breath in the fresh air with a tasty healthy treat in hand.
