We were able to visit wonderful Black Birch Vineyard recently on a trip through Western MA. What a treat it was! We visited the vineyard at it’s previous location and really enjoyed it. Since our last visit Ian and Michelle moved their vineyard.
While traveling to the vineyard, I was talking to James and was saying, “I remember going to Black Birch Vineyard but this isn’t how you get there.” As we pulled into the vineyard, I knew this was a new place.
Upon entering the vineyard, Michelle greeted us. The first question I asked, “Have you always been here or is this a new spot for you?”
A Warm and Inviting Winery
The new facility is beautiful! The facility is located at 108 Straits Road, Hatfield, MA. The facility is very inviting and it has a great vibe. They offer a comfortable sitting area in front of their facility.
As we entered the facility, we observed a warm and inviting tasting area. The area was beautifully decorated with photos and miscellaneous items available for purchase. We felt instantly relaxed and welcome. We were ready for a wine tasting!
Michelle and Ian established Black Birch Vineyard in 2012 and moved to Hatfield in 2017. They now have 19,000 vines and 12 acres in the Connecticut River Valley. This gives them 10 grape varieties or varietals to work with.
