Recently in 2021, Nancy and I had the opportunity to visit Hillsborough River State Park. We were happy we did. Here, you will find out why Hillsborough State Park is a great choice for you to enjoy a great nature walk and some beautiful wildlife.
Directions and Admission Prices
So where is this state park? The park can be located at U.S. Highway 301, 7 miles south of State Road 54 in Zephyrhills, and 14 miles north of interstate 4 east of Tampa.
What are the prices for the state park entry? You will pay $6 per 2-8 visitors and $4 if traveling alone. Are you planning to camp? Primitive Camping is $5 per person per night. It will cost you $24 a night for water and electric camping. A great way for you to make some new family or solo memories.
Safety Updates
Effective February 6, the Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) passed a federal law stating that all persons on a tour boat, ferry or other park-provided waterpark within Florida State Parks grounds must wear a mask. For your safety, Florida State Parks will comply with this order.
As we always express to you, Safety First. It is always best to keep in mind when exploring new areas and for any new adventures.
Hillsborough River State Park
Why should you plan your next getaway, vacation or holiday at Hillsborough State Park? Here, you can enjoy both the natural and historical breathtaking views. You may also want to enjoy a nature stroll along the river rapids or pursue several fun water-based activities.
Nancy and I have stopped in at Hillsborough River State Park a few times. The alligators have a few favorite spots to sun bathe. We have really enjoyed our walks and all of the wildlife that we’ve been able to spot.
The suspension bridge was a very cool also. It’s big enough to cross the river and also gives you the feel of being suspended with the slight sway. Nancy really enjoyed it. It reminded her of when her brothers would go on the Farris wheel when she was younger and they would rock it, yikes.
Are you looking for outdoor recreation? If you’re an Angler, you will want to test out your skills with the freshwater fishing. Here, you will find bass, bream and catfish. However, you will need to obtain a Florida freshwater fishing license prior to getting your catch of the day.
You may also want to enjoy a hike, or bicycling through the many trails. How about a picnic? You may enjoy the perfect picnic under one of the pavilions. These pavilions were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
