March 10, 2019 – Daylight Saving Time Start
Daylight savings time travel, also called Spring Forward and Summer Time ends this Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2:00 am. The twice yearly practice, this time of year is generally considered to be the good DST change, because you earn an additional extra hour of sleep and you can enjoy more sunlight in the evening. Like it or not, there’s no doubt that changing up the clocks causes all sorts of issues, as people struggle to adjust with the time change!
Nowadays, some clocks update automatically but there are still many who rely on analog clocks. It’s easy to forget to reset them before bed and if you are planning to travel the day of, you just may miss your flight.
So why do people continue to subject themselves to this yearly ritual? Not everyone does, which only adds to the confusion! How about living in a state that doesn’t observe daylight savings? Here, you will have as much time to reach your gate as you thought. No Confusion Right?!?
Daylight Savings Time Usage
In the U.S., Arizona is the only state that doesn’t observe daylight savings time. However, the Arizona Navajo Nation does. Here, they do observe daylight savings time on their tribal lands.
Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands and the United States Virgin Islands also do not partake in daylight saving. Business as usual at these beautiful vacation and holiday travel destinations!
In South America, Not all of Brazil participates but those that do will change their clocks on November 18,2018 until February 17, 2019.
How about International Travel? Remember, not all the countries around the globe observe daylight saving and the countries that do aren’t always in synch with one another. In Europe, DST begins Sunday, March 31, 2019. Here, most of Europe will set their clocks forward one hour beginning on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Meanwhile, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, French Guiana, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. In addition, most of Africa, Asia and the Caribbean do not participate in DST.
If you are traveling this upcoming weekend, first, be sure to check that your alarms are set correctly, to avoid missing your flight. If using connections at places where DST is not the norm, ask an airport employee to confirm the correct time! With all travel, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to make your flight!
International travelers can check the Daylight Saving Time usage by continent or region by simply using their daylight saving time usage chart @ http://timetemperature.com
