You are able to take an approximately five-minute Ferry ride from Long Island to Brier Island. The cost for the ferry ride was $7.00 Canadian round trip. A Ferry crossing is every hour. The ferry returns every 25 minutes after the hour.
Where is Brier Island located? “Brier Island is on the westernmost part of Nova Scotia and the southern end of the North Mountain ridge with Long Island lying immediately northeast; both islands constitute part of the Digby Neck. Follow these simple directions: You take a right turn off the ferry and go past Briar Island Lodge. In the Brier Island Lodge photo below, yes, those are sheep grazing on the lawn. Then you will arrive at the Coast Guard Office.
Here, you enter and exit from the “Bay of Fundy.” A wonderful area overlooking the amazing Bay of Fundy, Long Island, and the Grand Passage.
Discover Nature’s Beauty
Here, you will find walking trails to the left of the Coast Guard office which lead to Pea Jack Cove and the Seal Cove Trails. You will find the water is usually very calm. Here, you will have the opportunity to view amazing wild ocean wildlife. You will have an amazing experience, which will have you wanting to return to Nova Scotia again and again!
While walking the trails you will easily observe harbor seals. The seals are just as curious to take a look at you as you are to look at them. These seals are usually not too far off shore. Peters Island Look-Off
Then there is beautiful Peters Island Look-off . You can easily find the Peters Island Look-off. You take a left off the ferry and follow the main road from the Coast Guard Office. Here, you will come to see Peters Islands lookout. Off in the distance, you will see a lighthouse, which is also a bird sanctuary.
