Discover St. Thomas U.S.V.I.

It was a beautiful day to Discover St. Thomas U.S.V.I., when the Jewel of the Seas arrived in amazing St. Thomas. This morning the island had a brief smattering of liquid sun. The weather forecast was for clearing skies and gorgeous day.

Many other passengers got to the exit of the ship and turned around. Not us we braved the rain drops anyway. We were going to the beach and going to get wet. So getting wet wasn’t going to be an issue and this choice certainly paid off!

Within a few minutes we were greeted with the most beautiful rainbow! It was the first of two rainbows that we would see this morning. We were pretty much the only ones on the pier to enjoy it. A great way to start our day at St Thomas!!

A Private Tour

As we made our way to the taxi stand, we were greeted by a coordinator who gather passengers for tours. We didn’t want a van tour. We wanted a private taxi to take us now before the crowds gathered.

Off to the Mountain Top! James and I jumped in the taxi and we were off to The Mountain Top. The Mountain Top is the highest point of St. Thomas. For here, you have stunning panoramic views that are of Magen’s Bay, St. John and the British Virgin Islands from its expansive observation deck. The observation deck is 1500 ft above Magen’s Bay. From here, you can seen 15 islands and cays.

The Mountain Top is also known for its world famous banana daiquiris which are amazing!!! They also have a wide array of duty-free shopping. It is the largest selection of duty free shopping under one roof.

The prices were great too. James was saying are we ready to go and I was like “NO” these prices are amazing. A $5 sundress to wear over my bathing suit! Thats a win in my book!!

Once James dragged me out of the shop we were on our way to amazing Coki Beach. James and I enjoyed a short journey along the St. Thomas countryside to the beach. We arrived in no time at all. Again, we were first to reach the beach.

Coki Point Beach

Beautiful Coki Beach Coki Beach had chairs and umbrellas for rent. We decided to rent a locker for all of our belongings since our goal was to be in the water most of the time. We did have a lot of belongings! That duty free shopping had some reasonable rum prices as well so we had a few bottles to store on top of the sundresses.

James and I brought our own snorkels. We have the full face mask snorkels and absolutely love them. They do have snorkels rentals, where you rent the chairs, etc. They also gave us a few dog biscuits to feed the fish when we snorkeled. What a great idea! I think I will be packing dog biscuits for future snorkeling trips. The fish ate them like crazy!!

The beach also offered some vendors along the beach. We came across the Sweet Angel Ice Cream, Sun Seekers Beach Rentals, the Simply Delicious Cafe and Martha’s Smoothies.

Beach Vendors

We also visited a few of the great businesses on the beach.

There was unique Big Tony’s, formerly known as Chinnery’s, which was a permanently placed food truck sitting on the beach. They offered a nice selection of food and beverages selection. Nancy and I enjoyed a delicious mixed drink, while conversing with the friendly owners.

The Island Cuisine menu consisted of Appetizers, Wraps, Seafood, Chicken, Burgers & Sandwiches and Sides. Food Item were reasonably priced as well, Appetizers between $5-$10 and the Chef Special’s between $8-$15.

The beverage items consisted of Beers, Margarita, Mix Drinks, Daiquiris & Frozen Drinks, and Soft Drinks. Beverage prices were between $2-$12 and you could also pick up a bucket of beer, consisting of 6 beers, for $25.

Our next stop was the awesome CATCH OF THE DAY BAR & GRILL, which was also located on the beautiful beach. Their menu consisted of side, food items, and beverages.

The Catch of the Day Bar and Restaurant menu consisted of Fry Fish, Breaded Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Chicken Nuggets, Hotdog, and Hamburger. Food prices were reasonably priced at $10-$12. The sides were a good deal at $5.

The beverage menu consisted of Soft Drinks, Beer, Frozen Drinks, Mixed Drinks, or Pick your own Poison. Beverage prices were between $2-$10. Nancy and I enjoyed a wonderful mixed drink with our wonderful bartender.

Snorkeling And Beach

We ended off our time at Coki Beach swimming and snorkeling in the beautiful warm Caribbean Sea. The snorkeling was great and we saw several beautifully colored fish. We were told Coki Beach is the best place to snorkel on the island. We were thrilled that we decided to snorkel at Coki Beach.

A Beautiful Port

Back to the port! The time had come for us to head back to the ship. We enjoyed a scenic ride before being dropped off back at the beautifully decorated port. The port offered a Caribbean Marketplace, Restaurants, Bars, Games, Taxis, and Restrooms. We enjoyed some time at the port before returning to the ship.

We had a wonderful day at the amazing island of St. Thomas but before boarding our ship we came across a friendly bearded dragon lizard. The lizard was looking for dinner around the rocky coastline. We stopped for some keepsake photographs and then happily boarded the ship.

We had an amazing time exploring St. Thomas! The island of St. Thomas is absolutely amazing and picturesque. If St. Thomas is not on your bucket list maybe you will think differently after reading this blog. Discover St Thomas U.S.V.I.!!
