Go Visit Natural Grenada

Looking for an amazing Caribbean Island, Go Visit Natural Grenada.

James and I arise for the sunrise daily while we are at sea.  It is a tradition we have had since our first cruise, which was our honeymoon, aww.  We get those extra steps in to make up for the extra cocktails and amazing meals.

This morning was no different in beautiful Grenada.  That’s why you will always see amazing sunrise and sunset pictures on our cruises.

Researching Natural Grenada

As we researched Grenada, we found that they have this great Underwater Sculpture Park, Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park.  The Park is now listed in the top 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic.

James and I love snorkeling so this was a no brainer of a tour.  We recently picked up a full face mask snorkel and love them.  I no longer get water in my snorkel and my mask doesn’t fog up.  They were a great investment!  I can now dive down to get a closer look or pick up seashells much easier too.

A Beautiful Day For A Catamaran Adventure

We arrived at our ride, a beautiful catamaran.  It was a four man crew with a very calm and relaxed vibe.  After the quick briefing, James and I scooted out on the front of the catamaran and reapplied our sunscreen.  We cruised for about 30 mins along the coast of Grenada taking in the amazing views.

During this time, we chatted with other passengers and even one of the crew came over and sat and chatted with the group of us, until we arrived at the Underwater Sculpture Park where the captain anchored.  One of the tour guides, gave us a great tour of the park.

A Fun Grenada Snorkeling Experience

James and I had approximately 45 mins to snorkel with the guide to see the sculptures or just snorkel around the catamaran.  We came to see the sculptures so thats what we focused on.  The guide did not feed the fish around the sculptures, so you could see the sculptures very clearly.

I remember Jim saying there were no fish!  Did you notice any fish?  If you want to see a lot of fish someone needs to feed them!  I’m glad that there weren’t many fish, it made it easier to see the sculptures.

*Tip:  If you want to get good pictures of the sculptures you will need to dive down and use a flash with your underwater camera.

Seeing the sculpture park was pretty cool.  We are glad we got to experience one of the 25 wonders of the world, Woot, Woot!!

Beach Break At Grand Anse Beach

After our snorkel we started our cruise over to the Grand Anse Beach, while enjoying some delicious rum punch.  Grand Anse Beach is one of Grenada’s white sand beaches, and most popular Beach.

The Beach has everything to offer you.  Relax in the sun, rent a chair and /or umbrella, order a drink and even water sports.  The beach was super clean and well maintained!

Silver Sands Resort, currently the longest pool in the Caribbean- 100 meters long

We had the option of taking a water taxis back to the cruise ship or a regular taxis.  Either choice was $10/pp to get back to the ship.  As you can see in the picture above the ship was not too far away.

One Last Look At Natural Grenada

James and I decided to take a taxis for a quick tour before returning to the ship.  We stopped at Annandale Falls and Fort Fredrick.  Annandale Falls is a quick stop and feels little like a tourist trap.  But if you can say no thank you and keep walking then you are all set.

Annandale Falls

When we arrived there were vendors on the left as you enter, selling spices and spice necklaces others with magnets and other items.  A couple more feet down on the right was the booth for your entrance fees, $2/pp.

It is a short walk to the waterfall,  where you can take a dip in the water, take a short break and watch the cliff divers dive for a fee.  *Tip:  If you snap a picture of a diver that someone else paid for, beware they may ask you to pay them.  The divers do this for a living.

The waterfall is nice I’m glad we stopped by to see it.  As we exited the park there was a man with a monkey and if you give him a dollar you could get your picture with the monkey.  What a cutie, lol!  I think he likes my hat!

Picturesque Views From Fort Frederick

Fort Fredrick was completed 1791.  Fort Frederick is the biggest fort on the island but is now more well known for its beautiful, panoramic views.  It overlooks the natural harbor and the capital of St. George.

If you are up for the hike, many do hike to the fort.  We chose the taxi due to time constraints.  Fort Frederick is a site to see, thats for sure! The views are breathtaking and spectacular!!

Grenada is also known as the spice island for all the spices that they produce.  They are the second largest producer of nutmeg and mace worldwide.  Nutmeg is so important to Grenada that it is on their flag.  Other important exports include cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice and orange/citrus peels.

James and I really enjoyed our visit to Grenada and look forward to another return trip in the future! The beauty of the island and the friendliness of the people make this Caribbean Island a very special place to visit!!

Could you purchase nutmeg or cinnamon to bring back?
I’m so out of touch with rules and regs, I’m not certain that this is even possible.
    Great pictures.

Yes, you can definitely purchase spices and bring them home. Just make sure they are sealed. No loose nutmeg pods or ziplock baggies, lol. Completely sealed. I don’t open the container until I return home. When we are in Mexico I stock up on my Vanilla.
